Date Ideas for Couples Who Aren’t Interested in Anything

Date Ideas for Couples Who Aren’t Interested in Anything  – Especially in Winter

First off, when I say “Couples who Aren’t Interested in Anything”, my boyfriend and I are far from boring. In fact, I think we just enjoy each other’s company enough that we don’t feel the need to do anything but sit on the couch, put on YouTube videos we don’t pay attention to, drink Raspberry Vodka, and have a good old fashioned conversation. (By the way, raspberry vodka is my drink of choice, but he’s good enough to always drink it).

But there gets a point where when your coworkers ask what you did on the weekend, and you have nothing else to answer except “We went to Shoppers Drug Mart for Diet Sprite and went on a romantic late night walk to the Husky gas station to buy crosswords”, that you realise maybe you should go out and do things in public…

Yep. My man sure does love his $10 crosswords^^^

My boy and I have a few interests of our own, like he likes to fish…. yuck!…. and I love to dance to techno, which isn’t really his thing, but other than that, we’re not big into sports, activities, games, restaurants, wine or whatever else “Adult Couples” have in common.

I guess we both love the water, being on boats, and out door exploring, but when the weather turns cold and nature dies around us, we’re limited to things we can do together.

Read the updated “About Me/Who the H*ll is this Chick” section to include the adorable story of how we met in summer 2018.

With summer time far gone, and no longer having the option to get away to his cottage, the past few weekends we’ve been quite happy running a couple of errands during the day, and then staying up late long enough to kill the next morning.

Recently one weekend we actually went to the gym together, and saw movie at the cinema (Venom) like normal people, and it felt pretty good.

So  for those of you who tend to be homebodies and addicted to your other half too much to want to face the world that’s out there, here’s a few ideas of stuff you can do, especially in the winter.

  1. Get a Gym Membership Together

I guess this isn’t at the ‘gym’, and it’s not us, but this is a super-cool looking workout

One thing my guy and I have in common is fitness. He was a competitive bodybuilder, and continues religiously go to the gym, and I used to work in the supplement industry, and am dedicated to working out every morning.

Going to the gym with him comes with this unique sensation of fulfilment because I can check out the best-looking guy pumping iron there while I’m on the treadmill, and know I’m going to see him later. Even if you’re not that into fitness, according to just about every health article out there, joining a gym is good, so why not get a membership together?

2. Go Bowling

That’s not me…but that is what I do if I hit a single pin when bowling… Maybe he wouldn’t want to take me after all.

Some people are avid bowlers and it’s their passion and hobby, but it’s not really something you need to know much about or be good at to have fun. Most bowling alleys have some sort of crap liquor-licensed bar, even if it just serves domestic beers and well drinks. But Hey… you can have fun for a relatively low price and only stay for one game if you decide you’re done.

3. People-Watching

We may not have that many interests, but we’re full of opinions. Mr. Handsome and I hate going to shopping malls, but we do when nessecary- like going in and out at Bath & Body Works to buy his Mum a birthday present, or spending ages looking for a nose ring for me- but when we do suffer through a trip to the shopping centre, it sure is entertaining.

‘People watching’ is free, easy to do, and a great way to channel your creativity and see how much you can make your partner laugh. Like we saw this guy working in the mattress section at Hudson Bay that looked like a sloth, and now every time we go to Limeridge Mall we try to find him to see how much he actually looks like a sloth and how much of it we made up in our heads.

4. The Movies

So proud of myself for going out, I just had to share it with Facebook……

Although my guy loves to sit- in fact his motto is “Let’s Just Sit for a Bit”, I can not stay still for more than a few min without fidgeting, unless I’m writing something where I am expressing my own creativity. Needless to say, there are not many shows or movies which hold my attention. However, if you find one which suits both of you, even just getting out and sitting amongst people watching a film in a social space with a bag of popcorn provides a sense of accomplishment.

5. Getting a Hotel Just for the Sake of It

Ballin’…

So on Thanksgiving weekend, we booked a night at the Fallsview Hilton. Let’s just say, it was awesome to get away from everything and everyone and have a ballin’ ass room with a view of Niagara Falls. Sometimes it’s fun for a change of scenery.

We went across the street to the casino and played some slots, dressed up and looked pretty and took a picture, but the best part was just being somewhere new and feeling like we went away even tho we weren’t too far. It’s kind expensive but you can treat yourself to these ‘getaways’ on the cheap with sights like Retag or even Air BNB. You have clean sheets and free mini toiletries to take home, and don’t have to clean up your mess in the morning.

6. The Midway

A “Midway” is basically an adult version of a casino. My boy likes casinos, crosswords, lottery tickets and all that, but I prefer the idea of potentially winning a stuffed pig or pack of gummy bears from from 865 tickets once I’ve invested $78.00 on tokens on games at the arcade. Midways are fun because unlike casinos, they offer more than the same old traditional slot machines and roulette tables, or games which require learning the rules.

7. Trinket and Novelty Shops

You may go into stores like Spencer’s, The Love Shop, The Smoke Shop, or random boutiques in a small town with no intension of buying anything, but they sure are fun to browse. Even if you don’t plan to spend a dime, these stores with unique trinkets or an eclectic mix of random novelty items are a great place to pass time. Even if the place makes you blush and feel uncomfortable, you can swap embarrassing and entertaining stories, or just laugh at the though of who would purchase these wares and what they intend to do with them.

In conclusion…The idea of ‘not having interests’ may sound boring, but of course, there’s a plus side to not really enjoying going out on the town and ‘doing things’. We save a lot of money by our only real bills being gas and the LCBO, and we never have to worry about committing to things in advance. It’s good to get out and do different things sometimes, but then again, I think there’s something to say if you don’t need anything but your significant other and a place to chill in order to have a great night.

Even if the night is by some peoples’ standards “boring”, at least I have something good to look at 😉

Love from Lala.
